When woodworking I use SketchUp about 80% of the time to design or mock up my projects.

It’s easy to learn and great work with but the best part is its free!

Also, there is a great SketchUp community out there who is willing to help you at any point!

Evernote is what I use when doing research online for any project.  It allows me to easily capture anything online and store it for use later.

It also lets me to sync that information to my work/home computers in addition to my iPhone.

It’s worth its weight in gold and it’s also free!

This is the software I utilize on my computers and iPhone to keep me connected to everyone on Twitter and Facebook.

They have versions that will work for Apple, Linux and Windows.

It’s fairly streamlined with an good online beginners guide.  The best part is it’s also free!
